Anime Review: Gundam Build Fighters

Welcome back! A year later. Buying a house and work are exhausting activities people, try to post more but only worthwhile content like this :)

I haven’t seen all of the gundam series available, I’m yet to build a model and I’m no expert on the topic. Now, having said that I can say that this new series is by far the easiest to get into and most exciting of what I have seen so far!

Seems like I’m not the only one from some comments I’ve seen around blogs. This is a different type of series, whilst you’ll find plenty of mobile suit action, exotic landscapes and space battles… It’s all played out using gunpla (Gundam plastic models) in a virtual type setting!

It’s a kind of spin off from another previous series which I am yet to watch, however this is pretty amazing. It’s easy to watch and you just love the characters.

The story centres around 13 year old Sei Lori, whose father was a an almost champion in the gunpla battle championships years before. He lives in a model shop with his mother and while he has excellent building skills, battling is not his specialty.

That is until he meets Reigi, an clueless kid with unbelievable battle skills, match made in heaven! The builder and the warrior, together they go on a journey to be the best.

I have just finished episode 21 of 25 and can’t wait for the end! I’m sure you will all love it as much as I have, the battles the friendships and the complete fandom over mecha!

P.S. This kind of seemed a little like pokemon lol only slightly but see if you think the same :)

Enjoy and feel free to leave comments!

Anime Review: Sword Art Online (SAO)

Welcome to another Anime review everyone! Been a while, but I haven’t been as pumped for an Anime for quite a while since I watched this one.

This Anime is from A-1 Pictures and directed by Tomohiko Ito, and is based on the manga written by Reki Kaawahara. It runs 25 glorious episodes and is every nerds dream!!

MMORPG’s are hugely popular (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Games) with many different people and usually consists of you wandering a mythical world on quests or fighting others for money and prizes in a hugely short version of it (see here) and the concepts in this Anime take it to a whole new level with VR (Virtual Reality). Being inside the actual game via a device called the Nervgear, you can feel everything and actually get the sense of being there. Of course it brings up major ethical issues I would think but let’s not let ethics get in the way of a good story!

The story revolves around a young teen named Kirito, and his adventure through the game and the people he meets. The first person is Klein, not quite a noob but he has to show him around and how to do things… Since Kirito was a beta tester for the game.

Today is the first day or SAO, only 10,000 copies were available, eventually when Klein tries to leave they realise that there is no logout button… So no way to wake up in the real world (matrix anyone? Lol) they are suddenly teleported with everyone else to the Town of beginnings… Where Kayaba the games creator has appeared and told everyone that they are now stuck in the game and the only way out is to clear all 100 levels of Aincrad (floating castle they are in) and defeat the final boss, however….

If you die in the game you die in real life. Mass panic ensues and our hero heads off realising game resources are limited so you need to grab something while you can, and leaves Klein to find his friends.

Short period later he meets the other major character in the game and they party up for the first boss clearance which has been organised by some guys with seemingly honest intentions.

Asuna and Kirito survive with most of the other players but everyone turns on Kirito as try realise he was a beta tester, but knowing the mistrust going around how it will affect group morale he takes all of the blame on himself and says he isn’t a beta tester but the highest ranking one in the game, they call him a cheater… Then beater (beta tester and cheater)

Kind of confused at this point as this guy has just saved everyone’s asses and they’re hating on him… But oh well, he ends up telling Asuna to join a guild if she’s offered as she is a really strong player.

Time moves on fairly fast through the game/show and we see Kirito growing with every interaction but always remaining true to himself. His relationships with the core characters are great to watch along with his struggle to remain the one decent player in the game. This anime is well worth the watch and I can only hope we get a second season soon.

I’d give this a 9/10!

Bike Project: Anime Inspired Singlespeed

So I’ve decided to do a cheap bike build, and thanks to a mate donating a frame I can get started!

The idea is, take an iconic anime from my childhood (Robotech/Macross) and use that in the build. I figured what’s more iconic then the Valkyrie fighter planes used by the main protagonists!

Ill try to incorporate the classic colour scheme of the hero plain flown by LT Cmd Roy Fokker and Rick Hunter in the series the Skull-1.

With parts being cheap and my mates help, it’ll be under $100 to do and should look and ride great at the end. Stay tuned for updates!

New Macross game… Will never see outside Japan

It’s days like this I see a new game on the horizon…. And I cry!!!

It won’t be available outside japan, and its majorly unfortunate as I class myself as a true Macross fan as I’m sure many thousands of people are, and we won’t get to play it without so many hurdles it won’t be worth it
